JONATHAN HESS IS NOT MESSING AROUND
Jonathan Hess is a Los Angeles based writer, performer and director of comedy. He graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film and TV Production, and most recently worked at The Huffington Post as the assistant editor on the morning show, RISE, until moving from New York to LA. Jonathan is also a standup comedian, writes topical jokes for Funny Or Die News, and has written jokes for French comedian Gad Elmaleh. He has also written award-winning screenplays, focusing mainly on half-hour comedies that deal with growing up, growing old, love (usually unrequited), and finding confidence in one's identity. Jonathan trained with many wonderful teachers at the UCB Theatre in New York since 2012, studying improvisation and sketch comedy writing. Jonathan traveled to London, England during the spring of 2013 as one of eight delegates from NYU Tisch participating in an intense TV production and writing curriculum at the BBC Academy. He also interned at BBC Comedy, where he worked on several comedy pilots, with some of the most renowned producers and writers in British comedy. He was also the Writers Intern at Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Jonathan is dangerously obsessed with A Song of Ice and Fire, and with the adapted HBO series, Game of Thrones, and he makes the best gin martini you’ll ever drink. Please don’t ask him for a “vodka martini”. That’s called a “kangaroo” and he will correct you. Check him out on Twitter and Instagram at @jonhess1005.
